The Canola Cup is one of the biggest annual meetings held in the central west and the excitement and build-up begins on Sunday with the staging of the heats.

Four heats will be raced on Sunday in the lead up to the $30,000 final on Monday, October 3.

Arguably the biggest C0 race in Australia, the Cup always attracts a stellar field and things are no different this year with a host of trainers making the trip from all over to take on the best of the local region.

Trainers are set to come from as far as Menangle, Windsor, Yanco and Goulburn while Amanda Turnbull makes the long trek from her Shepparton stable.

One trainer making the trip out west and keen to make an impact is Troy Williams, who is based at South Windsor.

His mare Iona Grinner has scored two wins at Menangle in recent times but hasn’t raced since July 9. He will line up in the first heat with Mat Rue in the gig.

Eight races will be held at Eugowra on Sunday with the first to be held at 12.32pm.
