Promising apprentice jockey Jake Pracey-Holmes may have to undego spinal surgery after a horror race fall at Dubbo Turf Club on Tuesday.

Pracey-Holmes, apprenticed to Gulgong’s Brett Thompson, fell off pre-race favourite Raised To Duel in the 5 Seeds Cider Maiden Handicap (1420m) and was transferred to Dubbo Hospital after suffered soreness and a possible concussion.
On Tuesday evening Racing NSW's Dr David Duckworth advised Pracey-Holmes had in fact broken his C2 vertebra while he also suffered a bruised kidney.
There was no nerve damage and he could move his limbs and he is remaining at Dubbo until scans are reviewed by doctors and surgical teams at Sydney.
