This year the Dubbo City Croquet Club will celebrate their 95th birthday. The club is the oldest continuously operating sporting club in Dubbo and started playing in 1921, on the same site behind the Dubbo City Bowling Club where they still play today.

This week we meet Mavis.
Stop - Go back in time - Go back to 1921, back to the roaring twenties when the flappers danced the Charleston, the Black Bottom, with their knock knees, crossing hands and flying beads AND they played Croquet !!!
This is the time our Dubbo City Croquet Club came into being 95 Years Ago. Wow
The Dubbo City Bowling Club opened in 1904 which was great for the men bowlers but their women were NOT happy. Women could not join the bowling club, could not play bowls, could not go into the Club bar!!!
Something had to be done! So in 1921 the Bowling Club built a club room at the rear of the Bowling Club complete with kitchen and amenities and a piece land to start a Croquet Club.
Go play croquet and have a cup of tea?
95 years later we are still playing Croquet and having a cup of tea although the world has changed and perhaps the game we play is a little different the challenge remains the same.
It is with pride we are Celebrating our 95th Birthday.
We are celebrating this major milestone in Dubbo City Croquet Club and Dubbo’s History.
Come join us in our celebrations on the 24th and 25th of September
- Croquet games in Period Costume
