Australia’s favourite jazz vocalist Emma Pask will join forces with renowned bassist Phil Stack, drummer Tim Firth and guitarist James Muller for a memorable night of jazz, playing swing standards and cool Latin jazz.
Dubbo-born bass player Phil Stack is the force behind this extraordinary line-up coming to Dubbo.
“When we invited Phil Stack to put together a jazz concert for our series here in his old hometown, we were expecting something special,” Macquarie Conservatorium director Vivienne Winther said.
“But the line-up of musicians he has playing in his Trio for our concert is amazing, and of course vocalist Emma Pask is a real star.”
Mr Stack has toured internationally playing bass with many of the jazz greats, while also playing and recording with multi-platinum rock band Thirsty Merc.
Phil was named the DREAM Festival’s Artist of the Year in 2015 as a great example of a Dubbo-born artist who has achieved national and international excellence in music.
Ms Pask has performed all over the world for the likes of Princess Diana, and Princess Mary of Denmark.
Her stint on “The Voice” took her talent to an even wider audience, and in 2006 she performed the Bridal Waltz for Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban’s wedding.
Leading jazz guitarist James Muller and 2011 National Jazz Awards Drum Competition winner Tim Firth round out the quartet of quality performers appearing at the Dubbo concert.
As well as giving their Friday evening concert in Dubbo, the quartet will pass on some of their knowledge in a workshop for secondary school music students from 12pm-3pm.
“Jazz lovers, indeed all music lovers, are in for a real treat at this concert – it really is not to be missed,” Ms Winther said.
“Both the concert and the workshop are wonderful opportunities for Dubbo’s music students and teachers to learn hands-on from these experienced performers,”
Tickets for the concert are now on sale.
