Dubbo police were called to the area at 6am Saturday due to a large number of young people fighting, smashing bottles on the road and damaging property.
Inspector Dan Skelly of Orana Local Area Command said he was unaware of what the party was for, but police spent hours trying to break up the unruly crowd at Collins Avenue.
“Police spent several hours moving the crowd on, following them to other streets in the estate where further trouble broke out,” Inspector Skelly said.
“Eventually police were able to restore peace to the neighbourhood after arresting several of the trouble makers, who will receive penalty notices for a range of offences including offensive behaviour and failing to comply with a lawful direction.”
Inspector Skelly said Orana Local Area Command didn’t want to be the “fun police” but they would not tolerate people disturbing the peace, scaremongering and making life hard for law-abiding citizens.
“We don’t want people to stop having parties just to make our job easier, we just want them to be responsible,” he said.
“If you’re having a party, tell us what’s going on, tell us how many guests you’ve got coming and we can give you a safe party pack.”
A similar incident occurred at the end of June.
Police had to clear a home and nearby streets of underage drunken and fighting guests when a 16th birthday party ran out of control.

A large number of youths were on Aspen Road, smashing bottles and fighting, and about 40 of the party guests refused to leave at the host’s request, leaving officers to clear the home.
One 17-year-old male had to be restrained when he lashed out towards an officer after being required to move on.
He was initially arrested, and then taken home and handed over to his parents. No charges were laid.
