A survey was recently sent to the local government area residents to garner their response to ‘Western Plains Regional Council’, which administrator Michael Kneipp said he was currently reviewing.
“I promised the local representation committee that I would come back to them with my thinking and discuss that with them at the next meeting on August 10,” Mr Kneipp said.
“Hopefully after that we’ll make a decision, and then go to the minister for a new proclamation if it’s going to change.
“I don’t know what the turn around time is on something like this but we’ll have a name set one way or another in the very near future.”
Only 32 per cent of those surveyed were in favour of the ‘Western Plains Regional Council’ name, with the majority preferring ‘Dubbo Regional Council’ or ‘Dubbo Macquarie Regional Council’.
