Although the past few weeks has seen a decline in the numbers at the duck pond, there has still been plenty of action.

The results of the June point score was very close with Greg Salmon on 34 points edging out Greg Jankowski 32 while Reg Ferguson and Tony Wall both scored 31.
Congratulations also goes to Rob Rich who won the July Golden West Holden monthly trophy.
Gary Giddings finally secured a win in the 25m freestyle on July 17 after being very unlucky to have touched the pads first in the finals the two previous weeks only to find he had broken his time on both occasions.
Gary’s brother Mel and then Tony Wall had been the beneficiaries the two previous weeks but Gary wasn’t to be stopped a third time.
Reg Ferguson was happy to take the win in the finals of the brace relays two weeks in a row after the first two placegetters were a little competitive and went too fast. Reg had teamed up with Craig Schloeffel and Greg Salmon.
Salmon had another win in the 2x50 metre backstroke/breaststroke on July 17 when he swam with the ever consistent Dave Sparkes. Craig Schloeffel and Judy Walsh were only a touch behind them.
Last Sunday “Table Boss” Dave Sparkes continued his winning ways, achieving a very rare feat when he scooped the pool, winning all three events on the morning. Being “on the table” Dave is always ribbed and jibbed about his weekly achievements in the pool so he was hesitant to announce the morning’s results. As he is also the Club Captain he thought it only fitting to hand over to his understudy to do the announcement. Many of the comments made in jest were not very complimentary, but Dave took these all in good part.
This phenomenon has only been achieved five times previously so congratulation Dave on joining this elite group and here’s hoping the handicapper will not be too harsh when he adjusts the times.
The final of the 25m freestyle was very close with Dave Sparkes (1.23) just edgeing Tony Wall (1.25), Ross Tomlins (1.73) Greg Salmon (1.96) and Ian Henderson (2.19).
Dave then teamed up with Judy Walsh to claim the final of the 2x25 m breaststroke/breaststroke brace relay after the first three teams got a little too competitive and broke their times. Reg Ferguson and Roger Mackay were awarded second place.
The 100m freestyle had mixed results, with many of the flock finding the distance somewhat challenging. No problems for Sparkes though, who managed a good swim of -0.56 off his time to cap off a very positive morning.
Reg Ferguson picked up two lucky numbers for July with Dave Sparkes, Roger Mackay, Robert Rich, Ross Tomlins, Ron Soden and Brian Schloeffel also had the lucky marbles.
