Tim Hines’ rich vein of form continued on Saturday after he took out round 13 of the Dubbo City Toyota Road Racing Series on the Burroway Road course.

Hines (+24 minute handicap – race time 53 minutes 40.156 seconds) won in an agonizingly close finish over David Gerrish (+24 minutes), with Adam Mitchell (+24 minutes) in third ahead of Jason Farr (+22 minutes) and Max Newton (+11 minutes) in fifth.
A very strong headwind proved a difficult obstacle in the first half of the course however the 24 and 22-minute groups were able to combine and caught the 19-minute group at the turn around, which saw a large group form that was able to take advantage of a strong tail wind for the return journey.
Sam Peacocke (+11 minutes), Craig May (+22 minutes), Darrell Wheeler (+19 minutes), Jeff Sargent (+15 minutes), Brodie Wheeler (+11 minutes), Sam Fitzgerald (+19 minutes), Craig Granger (+15 minutes),
Thomas Mannix (+11 minutes), Bill Williamson (+19 minutes) and Simon Meredith (+24 minutes) finished sixth to 15th Hines average speed for the 36.2km event was 40.47km/h, while Julia Graham was again the fastest female with a time of one hour six minutes 42.784 seconds (average speed 32.56km/h).
Hines also currently leads the overall point score standings on 325 points and though his lead is not unassailable, with only two rounds of the road season remaining, he will be very hard to beat. Dubbo Cycle Club junior riders continued to impress at last weekend’s Hunter District Junior Tour, with some more outstanding results from the talented youngsters. Imogen and Makayla Fuller were very competitive in the under-11 girls division and finished seventh and eighth respectively in the general classification, while their cousin Zac Fuller impressed in a strong under-13 boys division against his older opponents.
Zara Fuller, who continues to improve in leaps and bounds, finished second overall in the under-13 girls general classification after winning the stage one individual time trial and finishing second in both the road race and criterium events.
Dylan Eather finished third overall in the under-15 men’s division and was awarded the Best Young Rider for the best performed first year rider, while Danny Barber finished eighth overall in the under-15 men’s division after some strong performances.
Haylee Fuller was again in the mix for the overall honors in the under-15 women’s division and ultimately finished fourth overall in the general classification, while current Australian under-15 road race champion Kurt Eather finished fifth overall in the under-17 men’s division general classification and was also awarded the Best Young Rider for the best performed first year rider in the under-17 division.
