A week after pushing the unbeaten Dubbo CYMS to the brink, Nyngan claimed the scalp of the Fishies’ cross-town rivals.
In the process they leap-frogged Forbes, who went into round 11 in second but were beaten by Narromine the previous day.
Nyngan opened the scoring early, however Macquarie took a 16-14 lead into half-time courtesy of tries to Ash Widders, Wade Peachey and Jeremy Smith and a pair of goals to Mason Williams.
But Nyngan dominated the second stanza, scoring three quick tries in the early stages to establish a 30-16 lead.
Macquarie got back in the match when Widders crossed for his second but a late try to the Tigers sealed the points.
The loss sees Macquarie relegated to fifth on the ladder, one point clear of Narromine.
The the top five sides going through to the finals, Steve McLellan’s men need to win all three of their remaining matches to ensure a place in the post-season.
The Raiders travel to Kennard Park next week to take on Wellington while Nyngan are also on the road, making their way to Spooner Oval to tackle Forbes.
