Minister for Industry, Resources and Energy Anthony Roberts acknowledged the arrival today of the 2016 Melbourne Cup to the place where the gold used in its production came from – the Cowal Gold Operation near West Wyalong.

The arrival of the trophy is part of an Australia and New Zealand tour arranged by the Victoria Racing Club.
Mr Roberts said it had special significance because the trophy uses gold that has been mined, refined and crafted wholly in Australia and NSW in particular.
