Dubbo came into their match at Hans Claven Oval under a mountain of pressure, knowing they had to win to keep their school in the hunt for the overall tie.
They started as underdogs in the eyes of many, but didn’t let that affect their confidence in the first half and matched their rivals.
Striker Teegan Hall picked up a leg injury before half-time and didn’t return and it had a visible impact on Dubbo’s attack.
The second half was where the visitors began to assert their dominance, trapping Dubbo in their own half and creating chances.
Dubbo goalkeeper Shaylee Taylor and her defenders started to come under pressure but handled it well. It was only midway through the second half that Orange broke through with a goal to Taylah Murphy.
Dubbo continued to defend bravely but an equaliser never came. The win guaranteed Orange victory in the tie and the 2016 Astley Cup.
