A Brewarrina man has died and another has been refused bail during an out-of-session hearing after an alleged altercation between the two men on Thursday.

Michael John Brown, 43, was charged with assault causing death, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm and common assault. He made no application for bail and was formally refused.
The charges follow an incident on Thursday night in Brewarrina in which police allege a 43-year-old man and a 72-year-old man became involved in a fight outside a house in Dooral Street.
During the incident, the older man was allegedly held down by the younger man before a witness was able to subdue him.
The older man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance Paramedics but died en route to hospital.
