The students and their lecturer Cathy Maginnis want to take sunglasses and reading glasses to the villagers as part of their two-week trip to Thailand from June 18.
They are calling on Western NSW residents to donate unwanted glasses by June 13.
"These glasses can make such a big difference to the lives of people in the poorest area of northern Thailand," Ms Maginnis said.
"All villagers work in the fields in the harsh glare of the sunlight for long hours every day.
"Many of the women sew intricate detail on clothing and items to sell and often this is done in the poor evening light.
"Donating reading and sunglasses can provide an immense and immediate benefit and is an example of how Charles Sturt University strives to enhance the lives of people in our own backyard and further afield."
OPSM has seen its way clear to help out.
It's providing cases, cleaning cloths and educational material for distribution to the villagers.
The students are heading overseas with the support of CSU Global, which promotes international study experiences, and a Vice Chancellor Travel Grant.
They will visit villages in the Wat Jan region in northern Thailand and the McCormack Nursing Faculty at Chiang Mai University.
"The students will deliver primary health care and assessment of patients as well as participate in health promotion and education activities," Ms Maginnis said.
Donated glasses can be left at OPSM in Dubbo or CSU Dubbo Campus.
They can also be posted to Cathy Maginnis, Locked Bag 49, Dubbo, NSW, 2830.
