AFTER months of intensive preparation the City of Dubbo Eisteddfod was ready to start on a high note on Thursday with the vocal and choral section.

Vice-president and publicity officer Wendy Herd said the morning session would concentrate on primary, small school and signing choirs.
Musical theatre, vocal solos and duets were scheduled for the afternoon.
The evening open vocal section would include jazz and blues, folk, traditional, popular, sacred and art songs as well as operettas and operatic arias.
Mrs Herd said the eisteddfod would run every day for three weeks at the Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre.
"More than 7000 competitors will cross the stage between June 2 and 22," she said.
"Competitors come from all over western NSW and around the state, including the metropolitan area."
Mrs Herd said the eisteddfod generated a lot of interest and a significant amount of money for the Dubbo community.
"It is a forum for people of all ages to showcase their talents and receive expert constructive adjudication in a caring and friendly environment," she said.
The vocal and choral section would conclude on Friday afternoon.
The speech and drama program would run from June 6 to 9, followed by dance from June 10 to 19 and instrumental from June 15 to 22. Mrs Herd said more than 2000 dancers would take part in the main weekend of competition on June 18 and 19.
"Tickets for the very popular dance weekend will go on sale on June 6 via a link available through the City of Dubbo Eisteddfod website," she said.
The eisteddfod grand concert would be held at 3pm on June 25.
