They have shared with the community the line-up of activities to be held next year from Friday, April 21 to Monday, April 24.
Organisers met on Saturday to continue their planning work for the centenary, which they report has created much interest.
Secondary school education at Dubbo was first provided at a stand-alone facility when Dubbo High School opened in 1917 on a Wingewarra Street site - now home to the Western Plains Cultural Centre.
The school was joined in the provision of high school education by Dubbo South High in 1966, Delroy High in 1980 and by the Dubbo School of Distance Education in 1991.
Organisers are anticipating large attendances at the centenary events, starting with an official opening at the Western Plains Cultural Centre on the Friday of the weekend.
A luncheon will be held on the Saturday at the Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre (DRTCC) and the Saturday night will see gatherings of all year groups from all schools.
Sunday will have a ceremony at the cenotaph to honour all ex-students who served in wars in which Australia has been involved.
A church service will also be held and on Sunday afternoon at the DRTCC there will be "a spectacular musical presentation featuring present and past students".
Former Dubbo High School principal Jim Carey is one of the enthusiastic members of the organising committee.
"Having worked with some wonderful people, both teachers and students over the years, and having been a principal of Dubbo High School, where this all started, and head teacher of mathematics at Delroy High for nine years, I'm very pleased to be involved in planning the centenary celebrations," he said.
