Greg Mohr, John Walkom and Kevin Parker confirmed they had submitted expressions of interest to be part of the Western Plains Regional Council Implementation Advisory Group (IAG).
The NSW government sacked Dubbo City and Wellington councils last week, forcing the merger of the areas into the newly-formed Western Plains Regional Council (WPRC).
The government placed an administrator at the helm until council elections are held in September next year.
At the same time the government advised that at least two representatives from each former council area would be appointed to IAGs in each of the 19 new organisations across the state.
Minister for Local Government Paul Tool said last week administrators would be in contact with mayors and councillors in the coming weeks.
"The Implementation Advisory Group will play a key role in making the new council a success by bringing together expertise from the former councils to advise the administrator on how best to bring the council systems and staff together," Mr Toole said.
This week Mr Mohr confirmed he had put his name forward.
"I think it's without doubt that previous councillors should have input to lend support to not only the administrator but also the acting general manager," he said.
Mr Walkom said he was waiting to see if anything came from his expression of interest.
"We need to start looking at creating a positive discussion on how we work forward," he said.
Mr Parker said he had submitted an expression of interest to assist with the new council, and had received acknowledgement of its receipt, but not any further advice.
Michael Kneipp has been appointed administrator of WPRC and former Dubbo City Council general manager Mark Riley has been appointed as its interim general manager.
