The campaign is calling for pledges to help produce Reflections of Elephants, a book which will combine Ms Clow's photographs with writing from children's authors to conservationalists.
Ms Clow said the idea started after African tusker Satao was killed by poachers.
"There are some pretty grotesque images of Satao with his face hacked off and when I saw those images I knew I just had to do something," Ms Clow said.
The photographer said she thought about her skillset as well as the photographs she had taken over the past decade, and from there the book was born.
"Everybody loves elephants and everybody has an elephant story," Ms Clow said.
"They do have a lot of similarities to humans but they're not going to be around to love much longer."
By crowdfunding some of the costs of producing the book, Ms Clow said she hoped it would make it available for everyone to have in their home.
Pledges above $50 include a copy of the book, however if the $16,000 goal isn't reached, no one will be charged.
Of the money raised, 80 per cent will go towards the production of Reflections of Elephants and 20 per cent will assist charity The Askari Project with conservation.
