POLICE have apprehended a 34-year-old Winmalee man, formerly of Lithgow, following a pursuit through Newnes Forest early this morning.

The chase began at Bell when the driver of a furniture removal truck failed to stop at the heavy vehicle weigh station at Bell.
Police initiated a pursuit which led to a chase through Clarence, the Newnes State Forest and eventually culminated on Wolgan Road.
One police car is reported to have suffered multiple punctured tires due to the terrain.
Police used road spikes to slow the vehicle, however the truck driver continued his attempted escape, only stopping when the truck ran out of petrol.
The driver then fled the vehicle and attempted to escape on foot, eventually being apprehended after a short foot chase by police.
The offender was taken into custody by police and is due to appear at Lithgow Court at 2pm on Tuesday but will now appear at 9.30am on Wednesday.
It has also been revealed that the man was on bail and facing charges including three counts of driving while disqualified and one count of police pursuit, dangerous driving and possess prohibited drug.
The man was due to appear at Penrith Local Court before his arrest this morning.
