Council staff prepared the garden bed and put the bare-rooted roses in the ground on Monday and by spring, the plants are expected to add yet another variety of colour to the 400-strong collection.
DCC director of parks and landcare Murray Wood said the council was only too happy to get behind such a worthwhile cause.
"The McGrath Foundation holds a special place for so many people because everyone has been affected in some way by breast cancer. All council staff have had friends or family members who have been affected," he said.
"This rose has been specifically bred for Jane McGrath and when the McGrath Foundation approached us, the garden staff were able to find a place where we could plant 12, rather than just one or two."
The Jane McGrath is described as an old English-style rose with lightly-scented small pink blooms that produce in clusters.
Mr Wood said a plaque would be added to the garden bed in the future to make it easy to identify the Jane McGrath rose.
