Ninety club members turned out at the Dubbo RSL Memorial Club for the celebration, which included "a lot of memories, some laughs and some tears - but the good kind", according to VIEW past national councillor for the NH area, Sandra Armour.
The Day club recently made the difficult decision to end after it was unable to form a committee. However the members chose to focus on the positives, the reflection on the 46-year history of the women's organisation.
The Palmer Street singers continued their support of the club until the end, providing the entertainment for the day, while Ms Armour said Dubbo RSL "went over the top" in their catering of the event.
A presentation was made to the club's oldest member, Bess Bewglass, and she was given cake-cutting responsibilities for the afternoon.
"It was a very successful but sad day. It was filled with memories, scrap books and a lovely powerpoint presentation. We had two of our inaugural members from 1969 in attendance, Bonnie Gratton and Molly McGuinn, attending," Ms Armour said.
The VIEW Club is part of The Smith Family and Dubbo's Day club raised more than $110,000 for the Smith Family Learning for Life Charity since 1992 and sponsored six underprivileged children in that time.
There had also been a happy ending to the chapter, with the Dubbo Evening VIEW Club offering to make transport available for former Day members who wanted to join their chapter. Ms Armour said it was wonderful members who wished to stay involved with the organisation would be able to do so.
