The five-year-old mare chases back-to-back wins in the Ray Gooley Memorial Class 2 Handicap (1400m).
"She's got a good barrier, good weight (55.5 kilograms) and top jockey in Bobby El-Issa," Lunn suggested.
"From the barrier (two) she should just about get the run of the race.
"Everything being fair and square she should just about win."
The former Melbourne trained mare is coming off a dogged last start win in a 1400m Class 1 Handicap at Dubbo on March 20.
She took an age to get there but a win is a win in anyone's language.
Lunn has given the five-year-old mare a 21-day freshen-up since Dubbo and he could not be happier with her progress.
"If anything her work now has been better than ever," Lunn added. "She's freshened up nicely. She's fit, hard and tough."
This will be Cuban Lass's second trip to Mudgee. Five runs back she finished 3.1 lengths fifth to Cyclone on February 7, when ridden by leading apprentice Samantha Clenton.
"She had no luck that day," Lunn said. "She sat three and four wide with no cover.
"It won't be the same on Sunday."
Lunn has tinkered with different gear for Cuban Lass adding blinkers then taking them off and sticking to a tongue-tie.
"It took me a while to work her out," Lunn admitted.
"She can be a very hard going mare and sometimes refuses to settle. She can pull a lot. She's got to get into a good rhythm."
Mares in form generally hold it and Cuban Lass has been in good form in recent starts. Prior to the Dubbo win she was runner-up to Wollartant over 1700m at Wellington on March 13. Wollartant, now with Ross Stitt at Taree, has subsequently won.
"She's been good in her work and I'm going to the races reasonably confident," Lunn said.
"She hasn't run a bad race for me and been unlucky a few times.
"The top three on Sunday looks the main chances and there looks to be a bit of speed there which will suit us.
"Cuban Lass looks pretty well placed to me."
