Allan Darrell Blake's green Mitsubishi Magna has been covered in white paint labelling it a "pedo car", the Border Mail reports.

The front windscreen has been smashed, all four tyres slashed or deflated and the front end appears to have been damaged.

The word "dog" has also been written on the front passenger side of the car.

Shards of glass have also been embedded into the front seats of the vehicle.

Blake has been in custody since being arrested at his Albury home on March 4.

Police seized a laptop computer which allegedly contained about 100,000 child abuse images.

Detective Sergeant Chris Wallace said people should not take the law into their own hands.

"People should leave policing to the police," he said.

"I'd hate to see decent members of the community put before the courts in relation to their stupidity."

He said he was not aware of the matter being reported to police and warned against vigilantism.

It's not known when the attack, which happened in a public housing area, was undertaken.

Blake opted not to front Albury Local Court on Monday.

He was supposed to appear in Albury Local Court via a video link from Junee jail.

But defence solicitor Tim Hemsley said the 56-year-old did not want to appear on screen.

Magistrate Tony Murray asked whether the police investigation would focus on continuing analysis of other equipment owned by Blake.

In response, Director of Public Prosecutions representative Andrew Hanshaw said it was possible that advice could be given to the court next week.

Blake is charged with produce, disseminate or possess child abuse material.

It is alleged that at least 100,000 images, across a wide range of child abuse categories, were discovered on a laptop computer found at his home.

Blake did not apply for bail and was further remanded in custody for another mention of his matter next Monday.
