Dubbo City Council is developing a Pedestrian Access and Mobility Plan (PAMP) and Bike Plan to help focus state and council investment in Dubbo, Brocklehurst and Wongarbon.
The PAMP would help to integrate the footpath network within Dubbo's growing residential areas, schools and workplaces, council manager civil infrastructure and solid waste Steve Clayton said.
"It will propose facilities to cater to the needs of all pedestrians including senior citizens, pedestrians with mobility and vision impairments and school children," he said.
"It will identify any 'gaps' and deficiencies in the pedestrian network and the new infrastructure required such as footpaths and safe road crossings."
The bike path would build on existing cycling routes to develop a connected network and encourage safer cycling through the development of designated bicycle infrastructure where required, including parking.
"Improving the pedestrian and cycling infrastructure will help to support Dubbo residents' choice to walk and/or cycle, rather than use their cars, for short trips," Mr Clayton said
Mr Clayton said Dubbo residents and businesses were encouraged to get involved and complete the survey to ensure the pedestrian and bike plans reflected the needs of the local community.
He said interested people could also contact the project team to provide information on known pedestrian and cycling issues in their area.
