Kwasnik's former club, one he is still heavily involved with through his coaching, are currently languishing at the bottom of the A-League ladder with just nine points recorded so far.
The Mariners have only won two of 15 matches this season but they received a huge boost on Saturday when they announced the signing of former Champions League winner and Spanish international Luis Garcia.
Garcia, a product of the famed Barcelona youth academy, starred in the English Premier League during a three-year spell with giants Liverpool and he also represented his country 20 times.
He scored 30 goals for Liverpool and helped them to a Champions League title before moving on for stints in Spain, Greece, Mexico and India before joining the Mariners as a marquee signing until the end of this season.
"We managed to sell a couple of players in the January transfer window and the opportunity came up to sign Luis Garcia and it's a fantastic coup," Kwasnik said.
"I understand he hasn't played in about 18 months but apparently he's in very good shape so I'd love to see him take part this weekend against the Western Sydney Wanderers but we'll have to wait and see."
Garcia was in Australia recently as part of the Liverpool Legends side which defeated the Australian Legends 4-0 and he played a starring role, scoring two goals.
Garcia is almost certain to create more chances in the attacking third and is the first major marquee signing to arrive in Australia this season.
For Kwasnik, he hopes the arrival can turn around the current slump and help the Mariners climb the ladder and steal and unlikely finals berth.
"We're in a bit of a transition phase but personally I'm disappointed because it's hard after all the success we've had over the last ten years to see where we are but the reality is that's football and clubs have their ups and downs but there are a lot of promising signs there," he said, before saying how he hopes Garcia's arrival can spark a revival at Gosford.
"A player like that coming in, the young boys should count themselves very lucky with a player of his calibre," he said.
"There's a lot they can learn from him and it puts bums on seats and makes for some bumper crowds every home game."
The Mariners' clash with the Wanderers is played at Central Coast Stadium on Saturday night.
