The results are the highest recorded in NSW and New Zealand and his delighted colleagues at Dubbo Base were keen to spread the word.
Dr O'Carrigan is three months through a four-month stay at Dubbo as part of his training to be a physician. He will return to Sydney and the Royal Prince Alfred hospital in Camperdown where he plans to specialise in oncology next year.
He and another basic physician trainee, Dr Charles Prabhakar, also undertook training at Dubbo for a three-month stint last year.
"There is a great bunch of registrars, it's a great cohort we've had here," Dr O'Carrigan said.
He said he hoped to return to Dubbo next year as part of his oncology specialist training.
"We have a lot more autonomy and interaction," he said, describing the conditions experienced at Dubbo Base Hospital.
Dr O'Carrigan grew up in the Blue Mountains and attended Katoomba High, a school he is particularly proud of.
But he has links with the central west as his grandparents live in Condobolin.
