Niall McNicol will take on the president's role from Greg Campbell as of Monday, December 7, following the club's annual general meeting.
Campbell has opted to step down following five years on the board, with the most recent two of those as president.
"It's not really about change but continuing on the way we're going," McNicol said.
"Things like bar takings are up and we want to keep that going and things like music shows and Friday night raffles we want to improve all the time."
Prior to taking on the top role, McNicol has been a director on the board for the past two years.
While positions are usually voted on and accepted at the AGM, this year saw only nine people nominate for the nine positions, meaning no election was needed.
The new president said he was excited to take on the role and had been keen to take on more responsibility for some time.
"I've been involved in a number of boards and committees before and just seem to end up wanting to do more," he said.
"I usually end up in roles like captain, president or chairman so I've had plenty of practice."
A big thing for McNicol and the new board now is to work closely with Golf NSW and also Clubs NSW.
Both those organisations have already been contacted by Dubbo Golf Club in order to find out how the club can improve further.
"The main thing is all aspects of business everywhere is changing and we need to evolve," McNicol said.
"We've gone to Golf NSW and Clubs NSW and they made some suggestions so that's where we're going now."
McNicol also took some time to praise the work done by Campbell during his time in the role while he also spoke glowingly of the golf side of the club.
Praise has been flowing from all corners in relation to the state of the course and McNicol echoed that sentiment.
"We want to contribute in the same vain (as Campbell) and with the support of Golf NSW and Clubs NSW we can put some business plans in place to improve more," he said, before speaking about the course.
"We've got one of the best in western NSW and Al Horrocks and his team there do a great job and the professional, Craig Mears, and his team are really at the front line of all things golf and we get some great feedback from visitors and also club members."
