Nestor's Danish Lace finished in the placings in the TAB Ross Cribb OBE Tribute Highway Handicap (1100m) at Rosehill.
The Manton X Lace Wing mare produced an impressive run in the event for country horses but was not strong enough to catch favourite Bitburg ($4.20).
The Matthew Dale-trained Bitburg won by half-a-length from the fast-finishing Unknown Destiny ($31) and improved his record to four wins from four starts.
Danish Lace ($6.50) was a further three-quarters-of-a-length back.
The race was the mare's first after a six-week freshen up and marked the sixth time he had finished in the places in eight career starts.
After Dane De Lago ran at Hawkesbury on Friday, Nestor's road trip continues on Monday with Cool Ice running at Scone.
Cool Ice returned from a spell earlier this month and marked his return with a win at Dubbo. The Ice Point X Chiswell Green gelding has been a successful galloper for Nestor with six wins from 19 starts and more than $50,000 of prizemoney already in the bank.
At Scone, the six-year-old has the benefit of champion jockey Robert Thompson in the saddle.
Thompson, the hoop with the most wins in Australian racing history, will jump from barrier seven with Cool Ice.
There will be a strong Dubbo presence in the Royal Hotel Motel Scone Merriwa Handicap (1100m) with fellow local trainers Darren Hyde and Michael Mulholland also having chances in the race.
Hyde's Cardiff Prince has a tricky run from barrier 16 while Mulholland will have Infinite Bliss jumping from gate one.
Infinite Bliss is coming off a last-start win at Muswellbrook but will carry 1.5 kilograms more this time around.
Hyde has more chances at success at Scone with both Goolma Girl and Orchybobba also accepted in the eight-race meeting.
Goolma Girl is unlikely to run after making a start at Orange on Friday while Orchybobba is the bottom weight in the Royal Hotel Murrurundi Class 2 Handicap (1100m).
Orchybobba has struggled for consistency since winning at Grenfell back in April of this year and is coming off a disappointing ninth at Dubbo last start.
