The man, 18, and a 16-year-old were both arrested and charged following a police investigation into the shooting of a man in Dubbo on Tuesday night.
Both were charged with the same crime.
The charges stem from an incident that occurred on Tuesday night, in which a 24-year-old man was shot in the thigh before driving himself to Dubbo Hospital.
The shooting occurred on a rural property about 10 kilometres north-west of Dubbo.
Police said the man went to the location to meet with a number of people.
He underwent surgery and remains in a stable condition.
Investigations into the shooting continue and police are expecting to make further arrests.
The 18-year-old man appeared before Magistrate Andrew Eckhold and had his case adjourned until January 25 next year.
The 16-year-old appeared in Dubbo Children's Court on Thursday.
