DUBBO community members from all walks of life have been encouraged to participate in this Thursday's Reclaim the Night March to show their support for ending sexual violence against women.

As part of the Dubbo Violence Prevention Month, which includes a White Ribbon Forum and White Ribbon Gala Ball, the annual Reclaim the Night march is again expected to attract strong numbers for the walk from the Church Street Rotunda to Ollie Robbins Oval.
A number of students from TAFE Western who are studying either a diploma or certificate III in community service, along with the Dubbo Violence Prevention Collective and headspace Dubbo have taken the reigns to organise the event, which will be the 22nd year it has been run at Dubbo.
One of the students is Steve Newman, and he has implored everyone who is able to take part in the march to do so as it will only increase the awareness of the serious topic.
"It is a free community event and all people have to do is turn up so hopefully we'll get a strong crowd there on Thursday," he said.
"The march is all about coming together as a community to make a stand against sexual violence against women.
"It is really important to get as many men as possible involved and to help raise awareness.
"Events like this can bring the community together and really help those who are victims of sexual violence and don't feel comfortable coming forward."
People taking part in the Reclaim the Night march are asked to arrive at the Church Street Rotunda at 4.30pm, with the march to start at 5pm. Walkers will venture down Macquarie Street, and arrive at Ollie Robbins Oval around 5.30pm.
At Ollie Robbins Oval, a free barbecue and a number of local performers will provide entertainment at the family friendly event where several service providers will also have information stalls set-up.
