I haven't been able to track down any results yet. I will get back to you on that.
Some old news, but news nonetheless, was that Bob Dowling and Helen Lord took part in the recent ISSF State Championships at Cessnock a few weeks back.
Peter Lord also participated as a judge. I'm not sure how Bob fared but Helen came sixth out of 135 shooters taking part in the sports pistol event.
Congratulations to Helen on her result and to Bob and Peter for the part they played on the weekend.
Terry Greer was telling me about his recent experiences at the 2015 Masters Games in Adelaide.
One of the small bore rifle events had targets with a hole where the 10 circle should be.
Shooters would shoot into the hole and scores calculated to the nearest 10th of a point. So a shooter could score anywhere from 10.1 to 10.9 depending on where the shot went. Now that's precision.
Saturday on A-range was a 50-metre small bore shoot.
Youngster Layton Johnson-McNeil took out the honours with 636 (567, 69), Kevin Sippel second with 597 (592, 5), Doug Jump 596 (584, 12) third.
Other shooters were Marg Stevens 595 (570, 25), Bob Dowling 595 (594, 1), Heidi Ryan 587 (566, 21), Warren Johnson 587 (583, 4), Peter Howell 587 (582, 5), Shane Lovegrove 583 (573, 10), Peter Calligeros 582 (576, 6) and Geoff Luck 550 (TBH).
Sunday on C-range was a standard pistol shoot. Numbers were up slightly but only just.
Kevin O'Neill was at his cracking best with a first place score of 574 (480, 94). Martin Cook was second with 569 (504, 65) and Craig Hyland 567 (468, 99) a shade third.
Other scores were Kevin Sippel 538 (397, 141), Richard Wheatley 512 (390, 122), Peter Howell 501 (472, 29), Malcolm Bootle 490 (361, 129), John Salter 446 (349, 97), Geoff Luck 442 (208, 234) and Layton Johnson-McNeil 391 (TBH).
This weekend will be a Centrefire/Sports shoot on C-range and a committee meeting will be held starting at 11am.
Any black-powder shooters please have a think about a possible Ray Johnson Trophy shoot in early November and have a talk to Bob Dowling if the idea tickles your fancy.
