IT was a long day in the field for CYMS in second grade on Saturday, as RSL-Colts batted out their 65 overs and made 6-297 in the process.
Opener Michael Ying Sing starred for Colts, making a classy 137 at the top of the order and combining with Jakke Gardiner (65) for a 150-run stand that turned the game.
From 2-46 the pair took the score on to 196 before Gardiner fell, leaving Ying Sing to link with Nathan Jones (50no) for a further 70-run stand.
In the end it was the experienced Daryl Thompson who ended Ying Sing's innings but the damage had been done as Colts batted out the day, leaving CYMS with a big task on day two.
Jackson Peacocke and Thompson were the pick of the CYMS bowlers, each finishing with two wickets.

Rugby is well-poised to take first innings points against Newtown after a dominant effort on day one of their Pinnington Cup clash at Lady Cutler 2.
Jason Coyle starred for Rugby with the ball, taking three wickets as they ripped through the Tigers for 168, while Craig Pettit was the best of the Newtown batsmen, making 168 at the top of the order.
Needing early wickets, Newtown's bowlers toiled early without reward as Charlie Kempston and Glenn Shepherd moved the scoreboard along.
Kempston (31) fell to Pettit with the score on 67, meaning it will be the old firm of Shepherd (29no) and Michael Kempston that will resume this Saturday with the score on 1-85.

Three wickets from new dad Ben Calder and four to Sandeep Poonia helped Macquarie on Saturday but the Blues still have plenty of work to do if they are to claim first innings points against Souths.
Just hours after his second son Luke was born, Calder took the new ball and finished with 3-44 from 14 overs, while Poonia took 4-42 from nine.
However the match is in the balance as some lower order resistance helped the Hornets rally from 5-85 to make 225, before they struck late to leave Macquarie 1-4 at stumps.
Mark O'Donnell returned to the fold for Souths and made 35 at the top of the order but it was only some solid batting down the order from Michael McCarthy (61), Jeff Shanks (31no) and Matt Trumper (30) that helped the Hornets to a defendable total.
Late in the day, Neil Motbey claimed the wicket of Luke Patis for 2 as Macquarie finished 1-4 from the eight overs they needed to face out.
They will have 65 overs up their sleeves to score the 222 required for victory this Saturday.
