L4L September will see four local acts - Brandon Troutman, Gabriel Paris, Civil Hands and Sondernaut - take to the stage at the Pastoral Hotel from 8pm on Friday, September 18.
Active local musos Tim Hosking (Oneproudmonkey), Fred Randall (Civil Hands) and Dave Petty (Oneproudmonkey) launched the initiative in Dubbo earlier this year, and Randall said it's all about creating a platform for live, original, local music in Dubbo.
"From the perspective of the musicians, [it's about] having a platform to play on," Randall said.
"There's not many dedicated gigging opportunities, especially playing originals.
"The first angle for us is providing that opportunity. Being lovers of music, we love to see live, original music played here in Dubbo."
The L4L formula is simple: once a month, four acts take to the stage of a Dubbo pub for a free, four-hour live music event.
Events rotate between the Pastoral Hotel, Amaroo Hotel and Macquarie Inn, and L4L provides sound equipment and uses sponsorship to pay musicians and sound technicians.
The inaugural L4L event saw local acts Gabrielle Flanagan, Davesway and The Trill thrill the crowd before Sydney band The Bitter Sweethearts took to the stage. Friday's acts are all Dubbo based.
"I think a lot of people must think Dubbo's original music must not be that good," Randall said.
"We're out to prove people wrong. We think local music is out there and thriving and we're just here to be a catalyst and help it along."
