The fallout from the match is expected to continue throughout the week with players and also spectators from both clubs facing bans.
The match was filled with brilliant, attacking rugby league but all the focus has been on the fight which broke out in the first half which resulted in the sending off of Westside's Shane Konz and Macquarie's Perry Meredith.
Making the incident even more ugly was the fact it continued up the tunnel as the players exited the field with people from both clubs also joining in the push on shove.
Three players have been identified by Group 11 to answer for their actions this week while three spectators have also been cited after a number of incidents involving verbal abuse.
McDermott wouldn't give any more details on which players have been cited or from which club they play for but did state he was incredibly disappointed by the actions of the people involved.
"It's ruining the game of rugby league," McDermott said.
"There was some good football and fantastic tries but it's all been marred.
"All the talk I've had with people since that game has been about the other stuff.
"We won't tolerate this behaviour and any action we can take, we will."
McDermott spent Monday morning talking representatives from the Country Rugby League (CRL) and getting advice on how to best handle the matter.
Rather than just a normal judiciary hearing, McDermott said a management committee meeting will take place in order to deal with the fallout properly.
A date has yet to be confirmed but it is expected it will be held on Thursday night at either Dubbo or Narromine.
Making the whole situation more difficult is the fact Westside failed to have a camera at the ground, per Group 11 rules, and missed all the drama in the first half.
McDermott said the Westside club had apologised for not having the camera recording the match, which Macquarie won 44-42, but did confirm the club would be fined.
"They certainly have, (Westside president) Col Fuller put his hand up and admitted it was wrong but the penalty will be imposed on the club," he said.
"But that's the hard part, we can't see what happened so not sure what we can do."
