After thumping Parkes United 6-2 last Saturday, the Lions sit in fourth position on points differential on the Premier League Hockey table, priming them for a finals berth in their first season back in the competition.
Despite their recent strong performances, Waters is not getting ahead of himself, and knows the team needs to keep improving if they are to be victorious against the Zig Zag.
"After a great win there has been some really good spirits at training and the boys have trained with a really good intensity," he said.
"Coming into this game we know we need a really strong performance as a win or a loss now can determine if you play finals.
"Every week is important and you need to keep improving and that is what we aim to do."
Waters declared Simon Allen and Jarat Johnson as two players who had excelled at training during the week, and he was expecting a first rate performance from them.
"Simon Allen and Jarat Johnson have shown some great signs at training and I'm expecting big things from them on Saturday," he said.
"Everyone else lifted on the back of their training which was great."
Zig Zag have scored the second lowest amount of goals of the eight teams in the competition, averaging just over two goals per game.
Despite this apparent weakness, Waters won't be expecting their defensive line to have a quite game.
"We are a strong defensive side and that allows our attacking players to take advantage," he said.
"In saying that, there is no way we will be underestimating them and we are expecting a very tough game.
"The support we have had from the community and our sponsors has been great, and hopefully we get a big crowd again for our game."
The Lions take on the Zig Zag at Pioneer Park at 3.30pm on Saturday.
