That is how Barry Lew is viewing his fight to clear his name over positive swab charges dating back to 2012.
After a long drawn-out process, Lew was recently granted a licence by Harness Racing NSW that means he can start training horses again.
It has been more than two years since the popular trainer-driver was stripped of a licence after Karloo Mick, the star pacer that took him and wife Ronda to multiple Inter Dominions and Miracle Miles, tested positive to norketamine in October 2012.
Earlier that year another of his handy pacers, Karloo Kix, returned a positive to boldenone, however that was proven to be caused by a contaminated sample.
All along Lew has maintained his innocence in relation to both charges, and the battle to clear his name has taken its toll physically and mentally.
But according to Ronda Lew, the couple will fight until the end to clear their name.
"Barry has a licence again, which is great because he has really missed being able to work with the horses," she said.
"But it isn't the end. We know Barry has done nothing wrong or given the horses anything so we want to fight and have him cleared so it ends any innuendo.
"Barry hasn't been well and I think a lot of that is caused by stress from the whole thing.
"But things are moving in the right direction and hopefully down the track we will have our names cleared."
Ironically, the couple were in Brisbane on the weekend to watch Karloo Kix win a Listed event before they jetted out for a holiday in Fiji.
"Barry had another bout of treatment a couple of weeks ago so we went up to Brisbane and watched Kix, and then we jumped on a plane for a bit of a holiday to recharge the batteries and when we get home he will be back into it," Ronda said.
"When it all happened we had Mick at the top of his game about to go into an Inter Dominion and some other nice horses, now Barry has a licence again and we haven't got many so we'll look to get some.
"Karloo Damajor is spelling at the moment and there's some babies at home for Barry to work with, but Bart Cockburn is doing a good job with Kix up in Brisbane so we will leave him up there."
While Karloo Mick's career is over, the couple may have another top-liner on their hands in the form of Bathurst Gold Crown runner-up Karloo Damajor.
Peter Gavin, who has been a major source of support for the Lews for many years, has been training the two-year-old, and Ronda Lew said they couldn't thank him enough for what he has done with their horses.
"For a while there Barry couldn't do anything with the horses at all and Pete was the one who put his hand up," she said.
"He also looked after our place when we were away travelling with Mick and he's been great to us."
