A program of 12 foreign language films, documentaries and shorts will be presented as a free community event at the Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre.
Dubbo Film Society president Steve Clayton said securing the prestigious festival was a major achievement for Dubbo and country NSW.
"The Latin American Film Festival is traditionally held in capital cities and Wollongong," he said.
"This year the organisers wanted to take the festival to a regional location. Dubbo was fortunate to be offered this wonderful opportunity through a local contact at the Uruguayan embassy."
Mr Clayton said films from different Latin American countries would be screened at the regional theatre auditorium from 9am to 10pm.
They would include international award winning pieces and some of the most exciting and creative productions to reach the big screen in recent years.
"Each feature film and documentary will be preceded by a five-minute presentation on the country of origin," Mr Clayton said.
"The ambassador of Argentina will officially open the festival on the Saturday night.
"No bookings will be required and all films will be subtitled in English.
"Our aim is to make the festival a really special event. Hopefully the regional theatre auditorium will be filled with people and the Latin American embassies will be encouraged to bring the festival back to Dubbo."
