The under-18s Western Division star scored five tries in his side's 52-0 win over Bathurst High, the ideal result given the amount of points they needed to make up to be any chance of lifting the prestigious Cup.
Van Dartel put his mark on the match inside the first 60 seconds, scoring the opening try, but the rest of the first half failed to hit any great heights and the home side led 16-0 at the break.
But Dubbo College lifted in the second stanza and turned on the style, crossing for seven more tries and rounding out a comprehensive win.
Following on from last week's 48-6 win over Orange High School, it capped off a successful Astley Cup for the league side after the drama of last year, when the match against Orange was called off early due to a brawl.
"It was hard, last game against Orange was 12 months in the making," Dubbo College coach Craig May said.
"We had a lot of kids who were tarred with the brush last year and had a lot to prove and last week they were really up for it and there was plenty of emotion and then it's five days later and we had to play another game.
"I take my hat off to the kids, we did make mistakes but to win 52-0 you can't be doing too much wrong."
Bathurst High coach Des Crawford admitted his side were second best on the day, praising the Dubbo outfit which held strong when his team had a number of first half opportunities.
"Very tough but Dubbo are a quality side and they put us to the sword today," he said.
"Full credit to them, they played the full 70 minutes and we looked good in patches but seemed to drop the ball in good positions which cost us."
Following on from van Dartel's early effort the Dubbo side went in again after 11 minutes when fellow Western player Phil Combridge, captaining the team at halfback, went over.
Five-eighth Daine Cox again missed the conversion and he failed with his next shot as well when Connor Mallison scored Dubbo's third try of the day out wide.
Cox barged his way over to make it 16-0 at the break and shortly after half-time Dubbo were in again when a brilliant ball from the five-eighth put van Dartel over again.
The fast and powerful fullback soon had his third and fourth tries to extend the lead to 32-0.
The playmaking trio of van Dartel, Cox and Combridge were again heavily involved to set up a try for Dennis Peckham out wide as the match entered the final 15 minutes.
Van Dartel's fifth was sandwiched by further four-pointers to Hamish Astill and Peckham late on and coach May praised the fullback after the match.
"You don't become the Western Division fullback and get all those representative honours for nothing but one of the big things today for Harry was his leadership, which was great," he said.
"The way he helped, Phil is obviously captain, but Harry was there too and it was good to see.
"We've got a good unit and we've got a bit more football to go, we've got University Shield and a few other things."
