With four sports to be played on Friday, Orange holds a massive 256-144 lead, meaning they need just 145 points from the rugby league, hockey, athletics and boys soccer matches in order to exact revenge for last week's 434-366 loss to Bathurst.
A 15-1 win in the tennis set the tone for the colour city students, who backed that up with further wins in the netball and girls soccer.
Dubbo's only victory of the day came in the basketball, which they won 41-28
Should Orange go on and win the tie, Dubbo's task will be to minimise the damage.
If they can avoid a big defeat it will keep them in the hunt for the cup heading into next week's final round, which will be played in Dubbo against Bathurst.
