Senior Sergeant Unicomb has spent most of his 40-year distinguished career as a highway patrol officer in the Western Region, involved in traffic enforcement and road safety.
After joining NSW Police Force as a trainee in 1974, Senior Sergeant Unicomb was stationed at Central, Maroubra then North Sydney and, following that, Coonabarabran.
In 2007 he was promoted to the rank of Senior Sergeant (Traffic Coordinator) at the Orana Command/Western Operations. In 2012 he was appointed to his current position as the Senior Cluster Supervisor, Traffic and Highway Patrol.
Senior Sergeant Unicomb was recognised for his engagement with the local community, having created his own community radio segment, delivering a weekly police report to the Coonabarabran area to promote road safety, in his own time.
He has also been involved in and held executive positions on local committees including Coonabarabran and Coolah (now Warrumbungle Shire) Local Traffic Committee, the Coonabarabran Pre-School President, founding member of the Coonabarabran Fringe Bushfire Brigade, Coonabarabran Scouts and founding member of the Warrumbungle Area Radio Committee.
