The first anxiety information and awareness night - A Night Elsewhere - will be hosted at St Brigid's Parish meeting room, Brisbane Street on tonight from 7pm.
The night is a community project by TAFE students at TAFE Western's Fitzroy Street campus, and group member Kate Donnelly said the group chose to host an anxiety awareness night because they saw a community need for more support.
"There was a gap in Dubbo, so we're addressing the gap," said Ms Donnelly.
"Because headspace only addresses 12-25 year olds, this is for over 18s and for anyone that has anxiety, cares for someone with anxiety or just knows someone."
Jess Woodley, from headspace Dubbo will be the guest speaker at the event.
She will be joined by anxiety support representatives from Neami National and Mission Australia.
"Headspace is young and funky, and has a great way of getting information across," Ms Donnelly said.
In order to best support attendees, four members of the group, as well as Kate's father Geoff Donnelly, have undergone training through Mental Health NSW. Those five people also hope to continue the group beyond this week's event.
"We'll actually be certified to facilitate the information evening," Ms Donnelly said.
"The people that are facilitating are going to continue it."
The free event will run from 7pm until 8pm on Tuesday, June 2, and is open to people aged 18 years and over. A gift raffle will also raise money for Mental Health NSW.
