It is fantastic to see the support they have received and the response from each of them about the camp.
Twenty youth between the ages of 12 and 17 took part in To Reach Your Potential (TRYP) camp, funded by the NSW Police Force Aboriginal Strategic Direction grant.
Such a program is so important in today's society to help those reaching out for a bit of assistance.
With the teenage years such an important part of a child's life, and with some of these youths receiving little support from relatives, it is great to know that they have somewhere to turn to help them out when needed.
A camp like this means they are taught the basics about discipline and self-respect, lessons some of them may not receive at home.
It means they become better people, they understand the right path to take and the know they have support out there in the wider world when they are in need of assistance.
Children of this age are not, and never alone, and they should never feel like they are.
Camps such as this one, along with so many other support programs are always there.
We should be putting more funding into helping these sort of programs. They are helping today's youth and tomorrow's leaders develop into young adults along the right path and with high values.
The comments from the youth about the help they have received make these programs all the more worthwhile.
