The lucky winner was unaware he had won $208,921.25 in the Lotto Strike until he was contacted by NSW Lotteries.
“He can’t talk. I think he’s in shock,” the man’s wife said.
“This is beautiful. He’s played for many years so this is such a lovely surprise.
“I’m not too sure what he’ll do with his prizemoney because he still can’t speak. He’s just sitting here with a grin on his face.”
Thursday morning News at the Mall employee Sarah Neely said she was hoping the ticket would be claimed by one of the store’s regulars.
“We’ve got no idea but we kind of hope it’s one of our regulars. We’ve got a guy who comes and buys the Strike and the Lotto every week. He’s had a bit of a rough time lately so we hope it’s him,” Ms Neely said.
She said the newsagency was generally more lucky with scratchies, but said she hopes it is the start of something good.
Strike Lotto’s division one prize is won by selecting the first four Lotto numbers in drawn order.
The winning numbers on Wednesday were 25, 38, 32 and 12.
Last year someone won $1 million from a ticket sold at South Dubbo Newsagency, which is where a $50 million division one-winning entry in Powerball was purchased in 2013.
