Mr Bartley said there were about 800 people who attended the event and between 5000 to 6000 books sold.
"We really didn't have much stock left at the end. We were pleasantly surprised, it hasn't happened before so we were pleasantly surprised it went so well," he said.
"We were aiming for $4000 and we received over $7000."
The money will be divided between the Royal Flying Doctor Service at Dubbo, and the Bill Walsh Cancer Research Centre at Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney.
Mr Bartley said there were three reasons this year's book fair went so well.
"We had better quality control so the books we had for sale were good quality," he said.
"No books were over $5 and many books were only $1, children's books were two for $1.
"It was the best it was displayed this time. We didn't have boxes of stock under the tables and we had one lady who went around and jazzed it a bit."
Mr Bartley said Michael Egan's family called in to support the event, as did Member for Dubbo Troy Grant.
He said it was the best book fair to date and it would certainly be held again next year.
