"The garden expo has been in thinking mode for years and years. There were a lot of volunteers who wanted to see it happen but it never did and then I thought 'let's just do it'," Dundullimal manager Suzie Gratton said.
Ms Gratton said it was the perfect time of year for the expo as people were preparing their winter garden.
The expo kicked off on the Friday night with a dinner with heritage architect Clive Lucas, while Saturday and Sunday featured stalls and expert talks at Dundullimal.
"It brings people with knowledge to Dubbo and complements it with local Dubbo people," Ms Gratton said
To keep people interested, Ms Gratton said there was a different range of stalls on both days.
She said she had only heard positive feedback by those who had attended.
"It's amazing the number of people who say they've never been to Dundullimal, especially when Dundullimal is older than Dubbo."
