The event features 10 teams from NSW mines taking part in six rescue scenarios: fire fighting, road accident rescue, high angle vertical rescue, search and rescue, endurance and triage.
The challenge tests volunteer mines rescue teams on their knowledge, skills, leadership and teamwork abilities.
The event is sponsored by NSW Trade & Investment Mine Safety and the Mine Safety Advisory Council (MSAC).
The event was officially opened by Darling River Police Commander Superintendent Greg Moore. Teams taking part include CSA Mine, Cadia Valley Operations (Pink), Orange Endeavor Mine, Cristal Mining, Broken Hill, Peak Gold Mine, Hera - Aurelia Metals, Nymagee Tritton Mine, Hermidale Wilpinjong-Peabody, Mudgee Perilya Mine, Broken Hill Cadia Valley Operations (Blue), Orange.
