Ms McAneney is in her last semester of a tourism and event management degree at the University of Canberra.
“Tourism is the most important industry,” she said.
Ms McAneney said becoming Dubbo showgirl would be a great way to gain personal development.
“I feel like it would give me a lot more confidence and connect me back to my home town,” she said.
“It’s a great way to promote positive living in Dubbo.”
Being a showgirl is something which the 23-year-old already has experience.
“I actually won the Teenage Showgirl and that was back when I was in year 10. My little sister won teenage showgirl last year.
“That was a great opportunity, I absolutely loved that. I got to go around the show and judge cattle.
“It was such an experience and so much fun.”
Ms McAneney, who attended St Mary’s Primary School and St John’s College, said she was also a frequent entrant in the cooking section of Dubbo show.
“It was a very important part of growing up for me, Mum always pushed us to be involved,” she said.
Ms McAneney said she was looking forward to the showgirl process.
“It seems like now that I’ve got less study pressure it’s the right time to do it.”
