A team of 30 Macquarie Anglican Grammar Senior School Science students and their teachers, Monique Mintern and Andrew Thorne, attended the challenge, which is a nationwide science, technology, engineering and mathematics program.
It is presented and hosted by the University of Newcastle with the support of local communities, Rotary clubs and sponsors.
By participating in the challenge, the students compete with other regional schools, and experience first-hand activities in science and engineering they may not see in their normal schooling environment.
Activities on the day focused on inspiring students to consider potential future careers in science and engineering, and encouraged higher educational standards in the students.
"The school is so proud of what the students have achieved today and the focus, performance and behaviour of our students on the day demonstrated what quality students we have at Macquarie," head of science, Monique Mintern, said.
