At Thursday's meeting over the development, Labor candidate for Dubbo Stephen Lawrence, independent candidate Col Hamilton and Greens candidate Matt Parmeter attended but there was no National Party representation.
The ALP candidate said he was there because of the community concern. Stephen Lawrence said he had been approached by people in the town and wanted to help.
"Why can't the gas fired power station be moved to a location not so close to the town?" he asked the ERM representative Andy Pittlik.
He then asked a number of other questions.
It was explained the cost and disruption to land holders by overhead power lines would prohibit another site being constructed and the current site was next to the Transgrid substation in Wellington.
The Labor candidate said he was determined to work with the community to ensure the gas fired power station would have a limited impact on them and at the time was undecided about his view on it.
Independent candidate Colin Hamilton said people in the town and on its outskirts had real concerns. Mr Hamilton explained he was deeply opposed to the coal seam gas which was ruining the farming community.
Greens candidate Matt Parmeter said the town didn't seem to want the project.
He questioned if it would ever make the light of day.
"The most valuable thing here is your town. It's more important than this project," he said.
"How viable is this project?. Is it likely to ever go ahead"
