Committee member Geoff Mann said the late Marie Walkowiak had amassed a treasure trove of material during her years as church historian and archivist.
"We are looking to add to that by obtaining memorabilia from the community," he said.
"Our plan is to digitise photographs and documents associated with the church in Dubbo, including weddings, baptisms and sporting and social events.
"This will enable us to stage a rolling presentation of images at the various 150th anniversary celebrations being held throughout the year."
Mr Mann said St Brigid's parish had been an important part of his life.
"I grew up in the Catholic faith and despite all my sporting involvements and contact with the wider community, the church is at the heart of my life," he said.
"When I left teacher's college I spent four years in a youth ministry role in the Bathurst diocese, based in Dubbo.
"My wife, Bridget, has taught in parish schools and is the longest serving teacher at St Pius X Primary School.
"Bridget and I have been involved in everything from baptism preparation programs to working with young people preparing for marriage.
"We were family group leaders for 25 years and enjoyed bringing people together in a social context.
"Our children were educated in parish schools and we have been involved in all manner of school committees and activities.
"A big thing for me every year is being one of the leaders for the Stations of the Cross at Easter."
Mr Mann said he was excited about the parish sesquicentenary celebrations and the opportunity to celebrate a milestone event with the Dubbo community.
