The third and final stage of the more than $30 million redevelopment of the shopping centre in East Dubbo is well under way.
Centre manager Cherie Forrester expects the under-construction extension that "runs from the Reject Shop doors towards the Mitchell Highway" will be finished and operational in the fourth quarter of this year.
It will house up to 25 new shops with Mrs Forrester revealing that "nationals not already in Dubbo" are being approached to fill retail spaces.
David Payne Constructions is finalising the redevelopment of the mall that has been catering to about 200,000 people in the western region since 1979.
On Wednesday Mrs Forrester outlined some of the work currently under way at the facility owned by the Bachrach Naumburger Group.
Mrs Forrester said the extension being built off the existing mall would create an L-shape.
About 60 per cent of the extension's wall, running parallel to Wheelers Lane, was complete.
But the brand new wing of Orana Mall would face east.
"You'll actually walk into the new shopping centre facing towards Windsor Parade basically," the centre manager said.
"There'll be major doorway with sliding doors at the entrance."
Mrs Forrester said the slab was being laid after extensive filling of the construction site to make it level with the existing shopping complex.
"We are right on track," she said.
The refurbishing of stores inside Orana Mall continues as the third stage of the redevelopment begins to turn heads.
Mrs Forrester said the redevelopment reflected the retail industry "reinventing itself all the time" and venturing into new territory including online shopping.
"With that happening... we are repositioning ourselves in the market," she said.
